LIFE INFUSION – Trattamento intensivo degli effluenti da rifiuti e loro conversione in output utili e sostenibili: biogas, nutrienti e acqua  

The high amounts of municipal solid waste (MSW) generated is a global concern – it is expected to reach 2.2 billion tonnes by 2025. Additionally, the treatment of both waste effluents landfill leachate and liquid digestate from organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) is still an environmental challenge. Therefore, the main objective of LIFE INFUSION is to provide a solution to this problem by approaching wastewater treatment from a recovery and circular bioeconomy standpoint. Its aim is to demonstrate an innovative system that can transform these waste effluents into value resources such us energy, nutrients and reclaimed water. This high efficient solution makes the project an example of environmentally friendly innovation in line with the objectives set by the European Commission.
